ZION FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH AND BETHANY FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH, BELIEVE, PREACH AND HOLD UNTO THE TRUTH FOUND IN THE WORD OF GOD, THE BIBLE, THE SCRIPTURES. WE ARE MEMBER CHURCHES OF THE ASSOCIATION OF FREE LUTHERAN CONGREGATIONS, AFLC.

This is what we believe:

1. We believe that there is only one God and He is the God spoken of in the Bible as the only true God; the triune God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 2 Samuel 22:32, "for who is God, besides the Lord". 2 Corinthians 13:14, "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."

2. We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible and inerrant word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; "all Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."

3. We believe the local congregation is a free and living congregation subject only to the Word of God and to the Spirit of God and the local congregation is God's institution to accomplish his purpose on earth today. Acts 2:42, "they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer".

4. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me".

5. We believe that all people are sinners in need of repentance and faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. Romans 3:23, "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God".

6. We believe that there is a heaven and a hell and that one day Jesus will return to judge the earth and establish his kingdom. Revelation 1:7, "behold, he is coming in the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him;"

7. We accept the "real presence of Jesus, in, with and under" the bread and wine (grape juice) in the communion service and accept the promise of His forgiveness given to us through the death of Christ on the cross of Calvary. Matthew 26:26-28, "take, eat; this is my body…. And when he had taken a cup and given thanks he gave it to them saying, drink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sin."

8. We follow the command of Jesus to "go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:18-20). We encourage faithfulness to the command of God to bring our children to the Lord and follow His command to be baptized and to be discipled.

9. We understand from the Scriptures that marriage is to be between one man and one woman. Genesis 2:22, 24, "the Lord God fashioned a woman…For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh".

10. We endeavor to follow the command of Jesus that we are to care for the needy, encourage the faithful and reach out to the lost with the salvation provided for us by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Matthew 25:40, "truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me."

11. We believe in prayer that we can communicate with God and lay our requests before Him and find direction for our daily lives. Psalm 66:16-20, "Come and listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what He has done for me. I cried out to Him with my mouth; His praise was on my tongue. If I had cherishd sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me!"

12. We believe that worship is to be an integral part of our daily and weekly spiritual experience. We worship God for who He is and what He has done for us. Psalm 95:1-7, "Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care."
